It seems that everyone either has, or wants to buy a flat panel TV. Who can blame them? They are sleek, they have a great digital quality picture, they are less bulky than traditional televisions, and let's face it, flat panel TV's look great either hanging on the wall or sitting on an attractive stand.

LCD and plasma screen TV's may look similar, but they are designed from very different technologies and both come with their own strengths and weaknesses. Both styles of flat panel TV's are sleek, shallow, and have great picture.

Both styles of flat screen TV's have large picture areas, excellent resolution, and are more expensive than traditional televisions, but that price gap has been narrowing over recent years. Nearly all models of the new plasma or LCD flat panel TV's come in wide screen model. This means that they have a 16:9 screen to height ratio which makes the picture look more like you are watching a movie in the theater.

In addition to the excellent picture and functionality, these flat-panel televisions can be wall-mounted and will fit into spaces traditional CRT sets cannot hope to go. Many of the larger models are HD-ready, and some even include integrated HD tuners.  At the same time, these televisions can often pull double duty as computer monitors, which is no surprise, as LCD is the current technology of choice for viewing computer content.
